THE ART AND DESIGN CURRICULUM AT BBEC INTENDS TO:
​
-
deliver excellent outcomes through developing creativity and a love for art and design
-
embed knowledge of a wide range of skills and processes and allow for the mastery of key techniques
-
enable students to work with a variety of different materials and take an experimental approach, whilst also emphasising the importance of quality and attention to detail
-
nurture creativity, ambition and confidence in order to encourage students to express themselves through a personal response –through their own culture, religion, sexuality and/or family life
-
inspire and empower students, regardless of background, ability, race, cultural or sexual orientation, to be independent, resilient and to push boundaries and take artistic risks

raise aspirations by working with professional artists from different cultural backgrounds and setting challenging goals

develop an understanding of the importance of art and design in the world of work and encourage students to take an interest in careers in that field

develop a wide range of vocabulary which allows students to confidently discuss the visual and formal elements in art and design and encourage them to show courtesy and kindness when others communicate their ideas as they develop

teach a range of methods by which students can successfully research and analyse the work of others and secure a high level of literacy skills

create opportunities for BBEC students to be resilient when working from inspirational sources, including a variety of artists, disciplines and the world around them

provide opportunities for students to extend their vocabulary and language, and promote ambition and resilience when applying cross curricular knowledge
